This workshop or series* of workshops will cover Google Mail and Contacts as well as how to use the tools effectively in an adult education classroom. These guided practice workshops will walk participants through Gmail shortcuts and tasks as well as Contacts that will increase productivity and save time.
As a series there will be 2 to 3 sessions - as a solo workshop the following topics may be grouped as scheduled or requested:
  1. G Mail Tools: An Inbox can be set to organize and prioritize automatically within settings. After a user includes their own settings, messages upon receipt can reflect the options like starring important conversations, reading conversations within a thread, and more. Snooze options, labels, and filters are other useful tools within Gmail that will be covered.
  2. G Mail Templates: Gmail templates allows a user to save a custom email on file and then send it anytime needed. Topics covered will include creating, editing, and deleting templates as well as inserting them into Gmail.
  3. G Mail Attachments: The "handshake" between Gmail and Drive will be covered where: files sent by others can be opened and/or saved directly to a users Drive, attachments can be added to messages without ever leaving a message, and other storage options.
  4. Google Contacts: Send a message to groups instead of individuals to avoid entering every name separately. Along with creating contacts, creating contact groups that can be used within Gmail to send group messages will be covered as well as scheduling messages will also be covered and more as time allows or is requested (per requesting program*).

(*) This title may be scheduled as a series of workshops where each session builds upon the last.

An OTAN Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to those that have pre-registered and attend at least 75% of the scheduled time.

OTAN workshops may be requested, customized, and scheduled by qualifying adult education agencies for their staff as targeted professional development.

OTAN workshops may be conducted as a "hands-on”, where participants are asked to provide their own devices, as “presentations” where a product or ideas are introduced, or as a discussion where all are encouraged to participate in a conversation around a specific idea or topic.

The desired outcome of every OTAN workshop is that participants will have a working understanding of the application or topics discussed and modeled.
