Use Wakelet in AE Instruction!

Name Use Wakelet in AE Instruction!
Date Friday, October 28, 2022
Time 01:00 PM - 03:00 PM

Wakelet is a free digital curation tool that allows you to save, organize, and share content across the internet. Wakelet offers a way to collate online resources in one place, called a wake. These Wakes can then be shared with a link to be accessed online, easily, by anyone. All teachers need is a Wakelet account!

Instead of simply viewing links, Wakelet provides users with content previews, the ability to add videos, as well as the option of uploading PDFs and images. When using the Wakelet, students (and teachers) are given the option to read text using an immersive reader - a feature that could have significant value to those with learning disabilities. The tool can be used on any smart device: phone, tablet, or computer! This session will also model  how participants can use Wakelet for their personal use as well as learning tips to pass on to their students!

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Know how to use Wakelet as a curation tool,
  2. Understand the value of the immersive reader,
  3. Know the steps for collaborating, sharing, and copying wakes,
  4. Learn at least one way to use Wakelet with students, and
  5. more as time allows!

This will be an interactive session!

Questions will be answered during the session and materials will be available afterwards.

An OTAN Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to workshop sessions to those that have pre-registered, participate, and attend at least 75% of the scheduled time.
